At a weekly progress meeting, a ceiling contractor reports that installation is complete on Level 3. Before the project manager updates the programme, someone has to answer a surprisingly precise question. Does "complete" mean the grid is in place, every tile is fitted, or the consultant has signed off the work?
What changed in October
On 21 October 2026, Buildots announced an update to Dot, its AI assistant for construction teams. According to the company, users can give Dot a task such as checking a trade partner's claim against project data or comparing the same activity across several locations. Buildots also describes a site documentation workflow in which teams can compare dated captures with earlier views or with their model.
Checking one floor, room by room
Consider a hypothetical office fit-out. For this week's programme update, the agreed milestone is "all ceiling tiles fitted". The contractor lists three rooms as finished on Thursday afternoon. During Friday's review, the manager opens the latest 360 walk and checks the room numbers against the floor plan.
- Room 301. Thursday evening's panorama shows the full ceiling, including the last bay above the door. The manager can attach that view to the installation record.
- Room 302. The same walk shows the grid and several stacks of tiles on the floor. The manager sends the image reference to the trade lead to reconcile the reported status.
- Room 303. The door was locked during the walk. Tuesday's image is available, but it predates the claimed finish. The manager asks for a dated return view and leaves the room open for review.
The meeting can now close with three specific entries: one room supported by a current image, one visible discrepancy and one gap in coverage. A single percentage for the floor would hide the difference between the last two. Any inspection or acceptance decision still belongs to the person responsible for it.
Brief the next walk around the decision
Before commissioning repeat capture, give the capture team the marked-up floor plan and the milestone wording used in the programme. Agree a walk time after the trade's reporting cut-off. Ask for each image to carry a date and room reference, and for the handover to list skipped rooms. If the images are destined for an AI platform, confirm its capture and import requirements with the provider first.
For a UAE fit-out, send COENGR EYE the plan, the installation stage and the date of the next progress meeting. With those details, we can scope a 360 walkthrough and any close-up photographs the reviewer will need.
